Hi rockoyster!
Finally had time to read your latest installment.
Glad you enjoyed the Appenzell region, it’s not higly rated but in my opinion a very lovely place to explore. I love taking visitors to the Aescher Gasthaus in Ebenalp. They serve good rösti but it’s usually crowded everytime we visit. From the guesthouse you can hike down to the nearest lake called Seealpsee. Love mountain lakes, the views never disappoint.
Regards,
Anna

I’m impressed by how deeply you have delved into the important subject of the St. Galler Bratwurst.

Definately not for vegetarians!

Glad to see that you are getting serious about the local gastronomic specialties.
That link is quite descriptive, and, indeed , I recognize some of the information from my rather “well-aged” memories of the family’s German background. I would have associated the meal with Austria, and the information in the link refines that understanding.
I think that I prefer the Berner Platte, linked in that article. Swiss friends have prepared it on occasion, and I have no problem finishing the usually generous portions.

PS- did you have a chance to visit the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen?
rockoysterParticipant8889 posts29 December 2019 at 6:05:41 #926838Negatory on the Zeppelin Museum. Although we did see the modern craft in the sky over the Bodensee.

Attached is the map you get with the audio guide. Gives some idea of how extensive the coverage is.
