    Hi Brenda, welcome to MySwissAlps!

If you’re in Zurich for sightseeing it will be more attractive to stay in the center of town rather than the airport. You’ll find hotel suggestions for both areas here:

There are train stations at the airport and the town center, so you can easily travel to your next destination from there.

Were you able to make a choice Brenda?

On doing further research I think it will be better to go straight to lucern after arriving. We are more interested in some of the other places instead of the city of Zurich.

That is a popular option. You can use the Swiss railways timetable to find trains from the airport direct to Lucerne. 🙂
