I think both is possible. You can check the timetables on this site (top of page: HOW TO TRAVEL). What you should do is up to you, really.

Have you decided on Gimmelwald then?
If you have the time to stop in Montreux for a night it is a lovely town in the spring and summer.
Another route is to go more directly to the Jungfrau region. Zermatt to Gimmelwald (or other town) VIA Kandersteg on the timetable is a lovely trip and very scenic as well.

Thank all , think we will move on to Interlaken for a night instead of Montreux , Cos if we stayed in Montreux , will reach there like afternoon so can’t explore much of the city also if we push forward further , the next day we can try to go schilthorn in the morning which usually less cloudy then late afternoon ?
Also will try to get a Saver Day pass for that day then it could dave some train fares.
Most likely we will go Via montreux , then take the golden pass route. I know there is a more direct route which is like 3-4 hours shorter , this route will take about 6 hours+.
Plan is to explore zermatt in the early morning , hoping to see sunrise on the Matterhorn , then try to take the train at 12 pm+ and reach interlaken before 7 pm. Was thinking of going all the way to maybe Murren/Gimmelwald/Luaterburren but that will take another 1-3 transfer any another 20-50 min. Also the coop store will be close on top and might be dark for the view up. So based on all this conclusion , think Interlaken might be a good choice instead ( even though lodging is not cheaper )

Hi KolaX,
Seems like you’ve decided how to move or rather where to stay.
Regarding the weather in the mountains this is always hard to predict, I couldn’t say if mornings or afternoons tend to be less cloudy.
