    Hello

I’ve had a look at the detailed rail maps and am trying to figure out if I got it right with the passes and its discount. My travel includes us driving a car. so below is our Public transport routes. Looking forward to inputs as to whether I got it right.

    5. Lauterbrunnen-murren (cable car and train),Almendhubel funicular, cable car to gimmelwald and stechelberg. bus to lauterbrunnen

STP: free for above, SHFC (50%)

    6.Wengen to Jungfrau

    10. Ballenberg museum : either pass valid? We will be driving from lauterbrunnen.

The golden round trip is 50% off if you have STP OR SHFC?

I am yet to do the math for the travel routes. But before I do so, I just want to make sure that I got the discounts on the routes right. Looking forward to inputs!

    Thanks!

Thank you for the inputs everybody. Glad to know I am on the right track. So based on my itinerary, I think getting a SHFC and a 3 day STP might work out to be cheaper than an 8 day STP (340 vs 398CHF).

We are driving from Geneva airport to Tasch. Stay at Zermatt. Drive to Lauterbrunnen, stay in Wengen. Drive to Lucerne and stay there. Fly out of Zurich.

    day 1: Tasch- Zermatt(stay here)

    Use SHFC-50%

    2. Gonergrat

    SHFC are 50%

    3. Matterhorn glacier paradise

    SHFC 50%

    4. Lauterbrunnen- wengen (stay)

    SHFC-50%

5.Lauterbrunnen-murren (cable car and train),Almendhubel funicular, cable car to gimmelwald and stechelberg. bus to lauterbrunnen.

START STP: free for above, 50% FUNICULAR

    6. wengen- klein , STP is free,

klein -junfrau : use SHFC sO 50 % DISCOUNT

7.Ballenberg museum and Lake brienz cruise

    STP free.

    8. Mount Pilatus: SHFC -50%

I wanted to confirm that I can alternate the use of SHFC FIRST then move to STP for 3 days and then back to SHFC. Looking forward to views from experts regarding whether my choice of passes is the most economical.

    Thanks!

We are also in the planning stage and I thought I read that the Golden route is free with STP. Or is it only 50%?

    Hi Connie,

    >> I thought I read that the Golden route is free with STP. Or is it only 50%

You might be confusing the Golden Pass train route with the Pilatus Golden Round trip.

The Golden Pass train route is free with the Swiss Travel Pass. Reservations (at additional cost) are recommended for the panoramic carriages between Zweisimmen and Montreux, as this sector gets very busy (except in the low season).

The Pilatus Golden Round trip with the Swiss Travel Pass is as follows:

    • Boat to Alpnachstad: free
    • Cogwheel train to Pilatus: 50% discount
    • Cable car and gondola to Kriens: 50% discount
    • Bus to Luzern: free

The Golden Round trip can also be done in reverse.

    Hi Connie,

Plugging the prices into our spreadsheet will confirm what rail pass options are the most economical for you: https://www.myswissalp s.com/train/ticketspas ses/practical/choosera ilpass

You can buy both the Swiss Half Fare Card (https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisshalffarecar d) and Swiss Travel Pass (https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass) for your trip and use them as required.I haven’t heard of tourists buying both cards very often on the same trip – but it certainly could work out best for you!
