I’m requesting a suggestion for best type of rail tickets to use for the following itinerary. Swiss Travel Pass, Eurail Ticket, individual tickets, or something else. Thanks

1. Arrive Zurich 30 October. Overnight in Zurich. Walking tour of Zurich (or excursion)

2. Travel via rail from Zurich to Oey 31 October. Overnight in Oey. Visit 2 or 3 geotag homesites from ancestors.

3. Travel via rail from Oey to Lucerne 1 November. Overnight in Lucerne

4. Excursion to Mt. Rigi, Mt Pilatus, or Jungfrau (weather depending) 2 November

4. Travel via rail from Lucerne to Roma 3 November

To know which rail pass is the best for your specific itinerary, you need to plan out all trips you will make each day and compare the prices for regular tickets to the rail pass price (including which routes/mountains are free or discounted).

I doubt a Eurail Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/eu railselectpass) will be beneficial if your only trip outside Switzerland is to Rome only. I’d look at the Swiss Travel Pass or perhaps the Swiss Half Fare Card
