Thanks a lot for your valuable advices on my previous posts, now I finalized my itinerary as below, need your opinion and suggestions for the remaining one and half day:

1- will travel from Milan to Lugano on Thursday July 4th will reach Lugano around 5:00 pm ( anything I can do in the rest of July 4th in Lugano?)

2- will take the Gotthard panorama express to Lucerne on July 5th, 9:22 am and will reach my hotel in Lucerne around 4:30 pm ( anything I can do in the rest of July 5th in Lucerne?)

3- what do you recommend to do next day (Saturday July 6th) from early morning till 5:00 pm as my flight from Zurich airport will be 10:00 pm.

    I am thinking about:

-stanserhorn trip and it’s famous open air cable car

    -interlaken tour

    -mount pilatus

    -Jungfraujoch Top of Europe tour

I don’t know if I could combine any in the same day and kindly give me your suggestions if there are any other better choices to be done in one condensed day and for you to know my interests, I love sightseeing mountain and lakes and riding trains, boats and cable cars .

apologies for any misspelling and thanks in advance

    Hi Ghandr!

    1. I would go for a city walk: http://www.myswissalps.com/hi king/lugano. You’ll find more suggestions here: http://www.myswissalps.com/lu gano/activities.

2./3. Please find suggestions on our Lucerne page: http://www.myswissalps.com/lu cerne. On July 5, you could theoretically get off the boat in Vitznau, so before you reach Lucerne. Then take a train to the top of the Rigi, then another one down to Arth-Goldau. From there it’s a short train ride to Lucerne. I would prefer to do this with light luggage only. The rest can be shipped: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/practical/luggage. Otherwise do a city walk in Lucerne.

For July 6 I would not consider Interlaken and Jungfraujoch. They’re too far away, and there’s not much to see in Interlaken. Stanserhorn and Pilatus on the same day are possible with an early start.

    Thanks Arno

I have Swiss travel pass, is it covers all mount rigi, stans train and stanserhorn cable car?

any of them need separate payment or seat reservation in advance?

regarding pilatus tour, is it mean the golden round trip? Or this golden round trip will take the whole day?

Shall I start the day with stanserhorn then pilatus or vice versa? Shall I make both directly without returning back to Lucerne in the middle of the day?

    thanks

    Hi Ghandr!

Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass covers all of the rides you mentioned: myswissalps.com/swisst ravelpass/validity.

Pilatus can be reached in several ways. The Golden Round trip is just the namefor a round trip from Lucerne that includes a boat ride, the train up from Alpnachstad and the cable car down to Kriens. It’s an option, but definitely not the only way to visit Pilatus. Please see myswissalps.com/pilatu s and myswissalps.com/pilatu s/gettingthere.

It doesn’t really matter whether you travel to Pilatus or Stanserhorn first. Alpnachstad (one of the valley stations of Pilatus) is close to the Stanserhorn as well, so it’s easier to travel via Alpnachstad rather than returning to Lucerne between both trips. You’d best consult the Pilatus pages mentioned above, the Stanserhorn page at hmyswissalps.com/stans erhorn and the timetable at myswissalps.com/timeta ble to compose your itinerary.

    Hi Ghandr,

Seat reservations aren’t required, please refer to myswissalps.com/train/ reservations. You can arrange for Pilatus, Rigi and Stanserhorn tickets in advance, but you don’t have to:
