    Hi,

I’m visiting Europe in late November and would like to go to the Swiss Alps for a few days – Can you please suggest some activities for this time of year? I would like to see the mountains and possibly do a nice hike – do you recommend the Matterhorn? Where do you suggest to visit? Thank you so much!

Hi Stephaniemin and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The 3 areas where you can visit some of the more popular mountains in Switzerland are around Lucerne, Zermatt and the Jungfrau region. See links below for more details on what there is do see/do in each town or area:

You can’t visit the Matterhorn in Zermatt but there are nearby mountains you can visit for the best views.

After finding a mountain you like – after clicking on the what to do tab on the pages above – be sure to click the route tab which shows details on how to get there and if the mountain is scheduled to be closed (many are in November as it is low season in Switzerland).

Many mountains are still going to be operating though – but most hikes will not be available at that time of year due to snow levels in the mountains.
