Would anyone know if the Swiss card covers the trams and trains in Zurich and trains and boats in Luzern?

We will be spending 1 month travelling around Switzerland with a few days in both Zurich and Luzern.

We would really appreciate any information.

    Many thanks

    Hello Acm Tam.

Do you mean the Swiss Half Fare Card? If so, then yes it does cover the transport you have listed.

    Thank you rockoyster.

Does this also apply for the Swiss Travel Pass? The information on this states that it covers some cities and towns but I can not find which ones it covers.

We are also visiting Bern, does it cover it?

As we will need a pass for 30 days, do we buy two 15 days passes? Do we need to buy these before we enter Switzerland and how are the passes dated, do we validate them on the 1st day of travel of each of the passes, or are they pre dated at time of purchase?

    Many thanks.

    Hi AcmTam,

    • Yes the Swiss Travel Pass covers transport in Zurich, Lucerne and Bern as well as most all cities in Switzerland (they are noted on the PDF map here – towns with a red dot in a circle).
    • Yes, you could buy two 15 day Swiss Travel Passes. You can buy them online here and have them emailed to you and printed at home (much more convenient and you will have an electronic back up in case you lose any).
    • You pick the first travel date at time of purchase – it is then valid for 15 days (in your case).
    • Depending on how much travel you do everyday you may want to look at a Swiss Travel Pass Flex and/or a Swiss Half Fare Card. It also depends on where in Switzerland you are staying.
