is the card valid for children travelling with grandparents

No, the Swiss Family Card is not valid for children aged 6-15 inclusive travelling with grandparents.

In this situation, you need the Children’s Co-travelcard, which costs CHF 30 and is valid for a year. You can find out more here: rds-and-tickets/railpasses/jun ior-travelcard-children-co-travelcard.html
