    Good day

I would like to know if it is worth wile buying the half fare card, we will travel by train from Basel to Lucern, then from Lucern to Zurich and from Zurich to Miilan.

Will there be public transport on Christmas in Zurich?

    Regards

    Hi Pieter,

Just for those trips it will probably not be worth it. If you have also planned day trips by train, boat, cableways, etc. it will be worth it though. You can do the math as explained here and check the Swiss Half Fare Card page for what’s included, how to buy it and more.

The Chiasso to Milan part is in Italy and not included in any of the Swiss rail passes. You can buy a ticket here. Public transport runs all year round.
