    Hi,

Am trying to decide between the Swiss Travel Pass or the Swiss Half Fare Card. It is mentioned under the benefits of the Swiss Travel Pass that it gives 50% reduction on most mountain railways and cable cars. Does this apply for the Swiss Half Fare Card as well? (The Half Fare Card allows unlimited purchase of train, bus, boat and some cable car tickets at half price* within the one month validity.)

Appreciate some help on this! 🙂

Hi Dizzy and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Yes, The Swiss Travel Pass gets you 50% off most mountain railways and cable cars (some have a smaller discount like Jungfraujoch). Regular train routes, bus routes and most boats are covered 100%. Where you are fully covered by the rail pass you don’t need to buy any tickets.

The Swiss Half Fare Card gets you 50% off all tickets you buy (bus, train, cable car).

Hi Lucas, thanks for the reply. What I would also like to find out is if the half fare card also gets the 50% discount for MOUNTAIN railways and cable car or even boat rides?

    Thank you!!

    Hi Dizzy,

Sorry for not being more clear! 🙂

The Swiss Half Fare Card get you 50% off all tickets you buy.
Meaning boat, cable car, train (both city and mountain train), bus etc.

Click my link on my last post for a list of major mountain attractions that are covered (50%) by the Swiss Half Fare Card.
