I would like to purchase the month Swiss Half Fare Card today July 29 for travel in Switzerland starting August 25. If I put the start date as August 25 for the card, can I book train travel in advance? Meaning I would reserve the travel on July 29 for travel dates starting after August 25.

Yes, it’s possible to purchase your discounted tickets even if you don’t have a Swiss Half Fare Card yet. Just make sure you have the pass along with your valid tickets during your actual travel. Thank you Anna. Just to clarify. Can I buy the card now and enter start date of August 25 assuming that means it’s good till September 24. Then book my trips now for dates after August 25.

I’m just a little confused on that part. I’d like to buy now and get that done. Or is it better to just wait to buy till needed

Yes, you can purchase the Swiss Half Fare Card ahead of your trip: https://www.myswissalps.com/swisshalffarecard/price. When you purchase the pass, you will be asked to enter the date you’ll start your trip. The pass is valid for a month from the start date, and you can start arranging for your discounted tickets online instantly.
