Hi. We will be travelling to Switzerland in Dec 2018. I have a 15 year old daughter, who turns 16 on 3rd Dec. We will be travelling in Switzerland from 12-22 Dec. Do we need to buy the half fare card for her if we choose the validity of the card from 1/12/18, i.e before she turns 16?

Hi Suhana and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Yes, that will work. As long as your child was 15 on the start date you choose for the rail pass. You don’t then need to buy her a Swiss Half Fare Card at all – only the adults. She can get free travel on the Swiss Family Card (as long as your Swiss Half Fare Card’s start date is before her 16th birthday).

You can buy the Swiss Half Fare Card online here and indicate that start date at time of purchase.

You can add-on the free Swiss Family Card (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw issfamilycard) at time of purchase. You can then have it emailed to you to print everything at home.
