Is it possible that the Half Fare ticket to Jungfraujoch is less expensive for 2 adults and 1 child at $300 than the Swiss Travel Pass discount at $400. I'm looking at switzerlandtravelcentre.com. Should I purchase these tickets from another site? I do see some cost differences from site to site. TIA
Don’t look at the trip to Jungfraujoch in isolation. Based on your personal itinerary you should read “How to choose the best travel pass” (www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math. The spreadsheet also includes links to the “Where it's valid" page for all available passes. Be sure to check those pages for each pass you are considering. Study the map AND read all the text on those pages to fully understand what is covered by the respective pass.
Don’t buy tickets for Jungfraujoch in advance. Wait until you are in the region and see the weather is favourable for such an expensive excursion.
You will find the Jungfraujoch pricelist here.
If you have children (>5<16) they will travel free (everywhere) with a Swiss Family Card (www.myswissalps.com/swissfamilycard) which is available for free when acquired in conjunction with a Swiss Travel Pass (www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass) or Swiss Half Fare Card (www.myswissalps.com/swisshalffarecard). Kids under 6 travel free.
