Hello, my family will be traveling to Switzerland in June. I understand June 10 is a holiday. We will be in Lucerne and may plan a day trip that day. Does the holiday impact closures of many places? Thank you.

Hello Julie C,

Yes, the 10th of June is Whit Monday in Switzerland, a public holiday. However, this doesn’t affect day trips to the mountains e.g. Some trains will run with slightly less frequency and you might find most shops closed in Lucerne, as it’s a catholic canton (state). Otherwise everything will function as normal.

Hi Steph greetings to u, i will be travelling to Zurich from Interlaken on 10th June and stay overnight to further explore Zurich town and will fly back to India 11th June evening.My query is that will the 10th June holiday effect my sightseeing plans for these days ?if yes ,please advise to utilize the day. Hello Singhmonika,

The answer to your question is the same as the answer to Julie’s question.

It will not majorly affect any of the trips you mention, barely some less regular trains (maybe) and some shops being closed. Of course you might also find more Swiss people on the move as usual, as we all have a holiday and don’t have to work.
