Swiss National Day in Lausanne or Murren?

In my itinerary I have a choice of staying in Lausanne for a few nights or Murren during the Swiss National Day holiday. I would like to experience this BUT I do not want to deal with large crowds and things beings closed especially restaurants. Which would be a good experience?

I am hoping to NOT deal with a big crowd if it’s in Lausanne.

    Hi Kathi,

I don’t think you’ll find a big crowd in Lausanne. Only at 10 pm at the lake when the fireworks start. From my experience there’s usually not much going on during the day. Shops are closed, restaurants will be open.

You could always take a walk across the scenic Lavaux vineyards if you find it too busy during the day.
