Travelling with a Swiss Pass, can I just get on the steamer, cog wheel train and cable cars to go up to Mt Rigi without making any reservations? Also buses in Lucern and Bern?

Yes indeed, that's exactly how it works. Note that the Swiss Pass will be renamed to Swiss Travel Pass in 2015. Please see the links for all details about the passes.
