Yes that route is covered by the Swiss Travel Pass and reservations are not necessary.

Because this is an international express train heading for Milano, chances are that second class (at least) will be very busy, and most passengers will have boarded before Spiez.
If it were me, I would spend the small amount required to get a reservation.
Which particular train (date, time) are you planning to catch?

Sorry, I missed that you had already mentioned the date above, but it helps to see your departure time.
There is no EuroCity departure from Spiez at 7:30. Are you perhaps connecting to it from the 7:29 train from Interlaken Ost to Spiez?
If so, the EuroCity leaves Spiez at 8:05, and occupancy in both 1st and 2nd class is predicted to be low, so you should be fine without a reservation.
It would be good if you could let us know how it worked out after you get to Domodossola 🙂

Have you seen the PDF map for the Swiss Travel Pass? Most towns are covered as well as part of the cost of Lugano’s funiculars.
rockoysterParticipant8889 posts1 April 2018 at 7:02:14 #880519Aah, so that’s where you were headed when you set off to Domodossola. How was the Cenotvalli?
Well the Swiss Travel Pass mainly covers public transport and it will do all that around those places.
If you go to http://www.museumspass.ch/wp-content/uploads/2018/0 2/smp-museumspass-booklet_2018-V-März-lowres.pdf and scroll down until you find Tiicino you will see some museums that offer free entry.
You may get a discount on the funicular (http://www.ascona-locarno.com/en/commons /details/Funicolare-Locarno-Madonna-del-Sasso/992.html) to Sacred Mount Madonna del Sasso (http://www.ticino.ch/en/commo ns/details/Sacred-Mount-Madonna-del-Sasso/2693.html) in Locarno. I’m not 100% sure about that. There is a black dotted line on the validity map which Luces referred to which I think goes there.

When I did that trip in Sep 2016, the fare with the Swiss Travel Pass was CHF 5.40 return, which was a 25% discount on the full fare.
