Traveling to Switzerland in June. I have been researching the Swiss Pass Options & wanted to get some expert opinions on my best option based on the following itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive Zurich Airport train to Wengen Day 2- Day 4 (Jungfrau region & possible day trips to Lucerne or Bern if weather is bad) – lifts, gondolas, etc.) Day 5 train from Wengen to Locarno, Day 6 Train Locarno to Zurich Day 7 Train from Central Zurich to Zurich Airport. It seems I would need to purchase the 8 day Swiss Pass if this is best option? Is it better to purchase the Pass online & print before I travel fr Texas to Zurich or is it easier to purchase at Zurich airport train station? We will be in Denmark the week prior & I don’t want to chance losing printed pass.

    Hi becmcentire,

In order to know which pass is most economical for your itinerary you will need to plan out all your specific trips and compare prices of tickets vs. other rail passes. We have a web page on how to choose the best rail pass to help you with the math.

Based on your itinerary you need to do the sums based on the cost of all your planned trips on trains, boats, cable cars etc. You can use the Swiss Train Timetable to work out the fares for any trip. When you go to buy a ticket the fare you see on the right hand side of the page will normally be the half-fare price. Double it to get full fare. With a Swiss Travel Pass it is free provided it is shown as free on the Area of Validity map.

I would order the pass online and choose the print at home option. Just run off a few copies in case you loose one copy.
