    Hello!

My husband and I will be in Swiss next march. We will travel by train from Zurich to Lucern on march 7th, from Lucerna to Zermat on the 9th, from Zermat to Saint Moritz (using Glacier Express) on the 11th, and from Saint Moritz to Zurich on the 18th.

Is it a good idea to buy the flex pass for 4 days? does it include the Glacier Express trip? The point here is that Glacier Express is usually full capacity and we would need to reserve a seat there in advance (how this reservation works?). Is it possible to do this using the flex pass? how about reserving the 1st class, is it possible too?

    Thanks in advance

    Regards,

    Cristina

Hello Cristina and Welcome to MySwissALps,

You can make the mandatory reservations for the Glacier Express here shop.glacierexpress.ch /gex_en/?___from_store=gex_de

You don’t need to have a pass in order to make the seat reservations.

The only way to know which pass is best for you is to do the sums. Work out the full fare cost of the point to point tickets and any cable cars and mountain railways you plan to use and then see how much it will cost using a passYou should read about how to chose the best travel pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass).

The flex pass may not be your best option. An 8 day Swiss Travel Pass may work out better for you. You can do excursions from Lucerne, visit museums etc. If 8 days is not enough then don’t have it start on day 1 when you are only travelling from Zurich to Lucerne.

Feel free to ask for further clarification.

If you have a 2nd class pass and want to travel 1st Class on the Glacier Express you can buy a class upgrade which will cost you half the difference between the 1st and 2nd class fares.
