Hello! Love all the information on this forum. I am heading to Switzerland on Thursday and arrive early Friday morning. My itin is below: I am struggling how many days to buy my pass. I will be in Switzerland for 11 days

Friday arrive early and take train to hotel. Cost is about 7CHF.

Day 1 Zurich – plan to walk around Zurich. Not sure will need the train. Might go for a boat ride but they are fairly cheap.

Day 2 same as Day 1.

Day 3- 7 to Wengen possibly buy Swiss Pass on Day 3

No plans after that. Waiting in the weather. May stay in BO longer. It seems quite rainy in the next week.

Need to return to Zurich on Day 11 in the AM will take train to Zurich airport not sure yet where from.

I know there are a lot of unknowns but we are winging it depending on the weather and what we want to do. Might go to Bern or Lucerne.

so any feedback would be helpful. I know the difference between the 2 passes is about 100 CHF but I don’t want to spend it if I don’t need it. I will definitely get one just not sure for how long.

    Thank you!

A pretty safe alternative if you haven’t finalised an itinerary is the Swiss Half Fare Card (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard).

    Hi Laurie331,

If you are certain you will stay in the Bernese Oberland from days 3-7, you may want to get the regional pass for the area for 4 or 6 days for example: http://www.myswissalps.com/re gionalpassberneseoberl and

Or even the Jungfrau Travel Pass for 3, 4 or 5 days: http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfrautravelpass

The Bernese Oberland regional pass also covers Bern and I see that’s one of your options. This will work well if you are doing a lot of travel every day within the region, as they cover all modes of transport (cable cars, trains, boats, buses etc.).

The regional pass may provide you with more value that the Swiss Travel Pass and also flexibility: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass

In an ideal world you would sit down and compare all the options for the part of your itinerary you are certain about: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass

Alternatively, as Rockyoster says you can get a Half Fare card if you want to remain flexible!

    Hope this helps!

    Maria.

Hi Maria, yes we have 4 nights booked in the BO in Wengen from Sunday until Thursday and May stay longer depending on how we like the area with some side trips to maybe Bern. So that option might work out well. I am thinking of just buying a full fare from the airport to Zurich and once we get into Zurich may have a better idea of what we want to do. The weather seems iffy for next week this we are being flexible on where we go the 2nd half of the vacation.

    Thank you you so much!!
