We are a family of 3 (adult x2 and our 17 year old child) and we are planning a trip throughout Switzerland in August 2018. We are planning to travel throughout the country for 12 Days. It seems that the Swiss Travel Pass is our best option, but I want to know if there any discounts (or better deals) for our 17 year old before we buy him the full adult Swiss Travel Pass too. I didn’t know if there are another deals for a student since he has aged out of the Swiss Family Card option.

    Any advice would be helpful.

Hi Keepfaith and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Yes, there is a Swiss Travel Pass – youth version you can buy that is discounted.
You can buy the Swiss Travel Passes online here and then have them printed at home so you are ready to travel as soon as you arrive in Switzerland.

    Lucas,

Thank you for your reply.. Silly question, but does he need to carry proof of his age when traveling on the train system since he has the youth discount or will the pass be sufficient once it is purchased?

With any pass you need to carry some form of ID – normally a passport for overseas visitors.
