I would be traveling from Paris to Basel and further from Basel to Zermatt. To what i understood if i am holding a swiss rail pass i am not required to buy a ticket for my Basel to Zermatt leg. But for Paris to Basel i require a ticket. Is this ticket from Paris to Basel could be discounted as i am having swiss rail pass or i will have to pay the full point to point fare?

Correct, your Swiss Travel Pass will cover Basel-Zermatt. It’s not valid in France though, so you’ll have to buy regular full-fare tickets for this leg:
