Swiss Travel Pass vs Eurail Global Pass
-
Hi,
We are planning a 2 week family trip (7 adults + 2 children) to Italy and Switzerland in May / June 2020 – 1 week each. In Italy we plan to stay in Rome and Florence and cover Naples, Pisa, Venice as day trips. From Florence we take a train to Montreux. In Switzerland we plan to stay in Montreux, around Interlaken and Lucerne.
We are evaluating between the 15 days continuous / 10 days Flex Eurail Global pass and Swiss Passes (either Swiss travel pass or Half fare Card). My question was –
1. Is Eurail Global Pass same as Swiss Travel Pass in practice (i.e. Free travel on all trains, buses, ferries and discounts on mountain excursions) or is that the wrong comparison? Pricing wise a 2 week Eurail Global pass comes very close to 8 day Swiss Travel Pass so I get the Italy leg at very low costs.
Thanks and Regards!
