We’ll be arriving in Zurich on Saturday, Sept. 28. We’d like to spend Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Lucerne. We plan on visiting Mt Rigi on Sunday then heading to Zurich then Winterthur on Monday.
Should we purchase the Travel Pass? And does this cover the ticket on the cogwheel train and cable car at Rigi?

cable cars, cogwheel trains and funiculars are usually discounted by 50% with the Swiss Travel Pass, but Rigi is for free. See what is included in the Swiss Travel Pass at http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity. Make sure you browse the list and download the validity map.
Mountain trips in the Lake Lucerne area are free with the Tell-Pass and part of the journey Zurich-Lucerne will be covered, up from Baar. But then you need an additional ticket Zurich-Baar, as it is not included in it: http://www.myswissalps.com/te llpass/validity. Both include the boat cruises on Lake Lucerne (http://www.myswissalps.com/bo atlakelucerne).
