Hi We will be in Zermatt for 4 nights and Wengen for 6 . We usually buy a three day Zermatt mountain pass and Jungfrau mountain pass . Would we save any money buying a Swiss Half Price card for the month?

    Hi Rgoppelt,

The Swiss Half Fare Card would save you money if you plan to travel with the trains and use mountain transportation outside of Zermatt and the Jungfrau region (where your current mountain pass is not valid). Additionally for longer trips for instance train travel between Zermatt and Wengen, you can consider getting the Saver Day Pass.

    Regards,

    Anna

    Hi LSil,

I’m quite sure this is caused only by exchange rates, as you already suspected. If you paid in Swiss francs, your refund will be paid in Swiss francs too. If your bank account is in a different currency, you may loose or gain a bit of money because of the different exchange rate. More often you’ll loose a bit, because many banks inflate the exchange rate in their favour, or add some costs for the “conversion service”. In any case, the costs are not caused by the pass retailer, but by the exchange rate and the bank.

I use Wise for most international transactions. They apply the actual exchange rates and costs are very low or often it’s free. Please see https://wise.com/us/multi-currency-account/. Their debit card can be used wherever they ask for a credit card in online shops.

Tried to buy the pass at 4 PM US mountain time, and couldn’t get it. It’s July 31 where I was filling out the form, but I but I fear I missed the deadline in Switzerland!

    kicking myself very hard!

    Hi davidheiden,

The deadline probably ended at midnight CEST. Did you try using all three retailers listed at http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/swiss-travel-pass-25-off-for-trips-in-20212022? HappyRail still seems to display discounted prices at this moment (early morning in Europe): https://www.happyrail.com/en/pass/europe/switzerland/swiss-travel-pass-consecutive.

I’m devastated!! I think I missed this discount by a matter of days… is there anywhere it’s still active or is there a code I can input at checkout to apply the 25% off?

    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

    Hi Caseybhardy!

I am afraid that this promotion has already finished.

You can keep an eye at http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/promotions and the MySwissAlps forum as soon as a new Swiss rail pass promotion is available Arno or Annika will post about it.

    Take care,
    Ildiko
