    Hi,

We are a family of 4 ( kids 16 and 14) weeks Switzerland. We plan on getting the Swiss Travel Pass for 15 consecutive days. W plan to spend 4 nights in the Jungfrau region and understand the STP only allows travel as far up as Murren/Wengen and Grindelwald. Is it recommended to still get the Jungfrau Travel Pass also? We don’t want to do Top of Europe as I fell it is too expensive but we do want to do First and also hike and explore the area.

If you avoid the Jungfraujoch section (my personal view is that’s a good decision – it is very expensive and many people (especially those who went up 20 or more years ago say it is now horribly over-commercialised like a theme park at the top of a mountain) a STP should be adequate for all your journeys – I wouldn’t pay extra for another pass.

To get up close to the Eiger, you can travel one way by train (with the STP discount) Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg and walk the other way. the path goes along the base of the famous north face f the Eiger, and Kleine Scheidegg is a nice place to spend some time – walk up above the station into the fields and have a picnic – you soon get away from the crowds
