    Hi There-

Does anyone have suggestions if the date purchase options (3, 4, 8, 15) do not line up with your travel? As you all know these passes are very expensive, so I am trying to purchase a reasonable priced pass that makes the most sense. However I would need 9 consecutive days if I had to purchase the Travel Pass and for the flex pass 8 days isn’t enough for what we want to take advantage of (museums, mountains, boats, bus travel) and we would be in the same boat needing 9 days of flex travel which doesn’t make sense spending more.

Travel plans are already set, so any suggestions on how to make an 8 day pass work would be greatly appreciated. Any chance they let you purchase a “1 day extra pass”?

    Thank you,

    Caitlin

Hi CaitlinW and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Indeed, a new product called the Saver Day Pass could work (on Day 1 or 9). You have to be careful as the price fluctuates (based on how far in advance you buy it) but it could work out in your favour (depending on how much travel you do on one of those days to make the pass worth your while.

Otherwise if it is just a short trip or two it might make more sense to buy point to point tickets for the day.

You can buy your Swiss Travel Pass for 8 days online here.

Thank you so much for your help Lucas, that is so helpful.

When utilizing the Swiss Travel Pass Flex, any time you use your flex card (for example to get into a museum, or short bus travel within a city, or to get a discount on hiking a mountain) will that count that entire day as a “travel day”?

Thank you so much again for your help,

    Caitlin

Yup. So make sure you do as much as possible on each day. Don’t use it for museum entrances only, or just bus rides etc.

Thank you so much for your help! This may seem like a silly question, but with either the Swiss Travel Pass or the Swiss Travel Flex Pass you can just jump on any trains in Switzerland and show your pass correct? You are not required to book travel ahead of time on trains (unless the train has a reservation requirement of course)?

Is this the same for buses?

    Thank you,

    Caitlin
