Hi all – have just discovered this wonderful site!

We’re traveling throughout Switzerland for just over 2 weeks in April. We’ve spent countless hours researching all the routes and hope have decided on the itinerary that will maximize our experience.

We’ve purchased two 14 day Swiss Travel Passes as we plan on doing a lot of things using public transport. We’ve booked the routes on the panoramic trains but would also like to reserve our seats on some of the other trains (e.g. Zurich to Zermatt) and particularly those where we will need to connect with a panoramic train later on the same day.

However, we cannot see how to make these reservations without paying the full cost of the fare as there doesn’t seem to be an option to use our Swiss Travel Pass. I would really appreciate advice as to whether these advance reservations are possible?

Thanks so much for any advice.

    Rosie (Perth Australia)

Hi RosiePerth and welcome to MySwissAlps!

I am glad you are enjoying our website!

You can find more details about seat reservations in Switzerland here. Generally no seat reservations are required, needed or indeed offered on trains in Switzerland (except those panoramic trains you’ve booked already).

I would not worry about making reservations at all but it is possible under the link above for some trains.

    Regards,
    Lucas

Reservations are only necesery in special trains.

We travel about 40 years by train in Switserland and have no reservation on any train. There is always place in the train and you can always sit. Reservation is waist of your money…….

    Greetings Brahms
