    Hi,

Four of us (two adults and two children less than 5 years old) will be in Switzerland. We will be arriving on the night of and then travelling by train from Bern to Paris. At this point we are planning to get the Swiss Travel Pass for 3 days and use it to travel around in Switzerland.

On the 4th day, we will be going to Paris from Bern. I wanted to know if we get any discount from Bern -> Basel and Basel -> Paris leg of the train from the Swiss Pass, and how much will this discount be. Then we can evaluate if it is worth getting a 4 day pass instead of the 3 day pass.

Also, how do I go about booking a ticket with this pass. The SBB website only shows the discount options for GA card or Half Fare Pass. The SNCF website is not showing the option of entering any discount pass.

    Thanks

Hello Greenmax and welcome to MySwissAlps,

The Swiss Travel Pass provides free travel to the Swiss border at Basel. If using the SBB Timetable use the GA option (1st or 2nd Class) which is the domestic equivalent to the STP.

    Have a read of this http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/france.

Bern to Basel is around 35-40chf per person so using the Swiss Travel Pass just for that trip isn’t worth it.

The Swiss Travel Pass and “Swiss GA” for residents are different products. The GA often gives international discounts that the Swiss Travel Pass does not.

I would buy a ticket from Bern to Basel on the day of travel and then pre-book a ticket from Basel to Paris (Rockoyster’s link above).
