Planning a trip for this Dec, wondering how many days to stay in each town. Rough plan currently is - Zurich (2nites) then to St Mortiz (1nite) & take Glacier Express to Zermatt (3 nites - 1 day for town, 1 day to Gornergrat & 1 day for Matterhorn), to InterLaken (2nites - 1D Junfraujoch, 1D Schilithorn), to Lurcerne (3nites - 1D town, 1D Pilatus, 1D Titlis) & then back to Zurich (for maybe 2 0r 3nites). Wonder if too much time has been catered for each town?

Hi Juzme7 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

My only thought is that 4/5 nights in Zurich is too much - what have you planned to do there?

Also, do note you can't visit the Matterhorn as you note during your stay in Zermatt. You can visit nearby mountain peaks to view the Matterhorn; Gornergrat is one and Klein Matterhorn / Glacier Paradise is the other.

Thanks, Lucas.

is it possible to visit Gornegrat & Klein Matterhorn in 1 day? And also Pilates & Titlis on the same day? We won't be going for any skiing activity & is aiming for a relax one where we do not have to rush for time.

haven't plan activities for Zurich yet. U r right that 4/5 nights in Zurich mayb too much, perhaps we should do a day trip out to Austria as we are planning for a 2 week holiday in Swiss.

Thank you.

Yes, you can do both mountains in one day - it tends to be a long day though (especially the two near Lucerne).

You can use the timetable to find travel times and schedules to and between the mountains: https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable

A day trip to Austria can work but only if you stick close the the Swiss border - otherwise most major towns are too far for a day trip. And in that case why not explore St. Gallen and the Appenzell area for a couple days?

Read about that area here:

You could also head to Davos or St. Moritz
