Swiss Travel Pass Youth – seat confirmations

    Hi guys!

    I would be getting a 3-day Swiss Youth Travel Pass. Since the train across Switzerland is free, how do we know the seating plan and availability of each train? How do we confirm our seats???

    For most trains within Switzerland, reservations are not needed and are not common. So you just board the train, choosing a carriage in the appropriate class for your Swiss Travel Pass (first or second class), and find a seat. If any seats have been reserved by someone else, this will be apparent from a small display above the seat – but as I said, this is very uncommon.

    However, if you are planning on travelling on the Glacier Express, Bernina Express or Gotthard Panorama Express, reservations are compulsory for these trains.
