Hi I visited Switzerland in May 2017 but wish to re-visit. I shall post questions relating to areas which I have not visited earlier

Whether I should visit Lugano as day visit from lucerne. If so I plan to visit cover
    Old town
    Lake cruise to gandria
    Mountain lift to san salvatore
    Swiss miniature

Can I cover the above in day trip

    Plan 2
Stay one night in lugano and visit above places and castle in bellinzona. Is it worthwhile to visit castle. I am interested in history

    Hello Shroffchetan,

Nice to hear you’re planning to come back to Switzerland. That’s always a fabulous sign.

I personally would definitely recommend spending some time in the region of Lugano, generally in the Italian speaking part Ticino, even more so if you’ve not been there before. It’s a quite a different part of Switzerland, landscape- and culture-wise.

Also the castles of Bellinzona and Lugano are well worth seeing, get some inspiration below:

As a day trip from Lucerne it seems to me quite a loooong day, first arriving and then exploring the place before returning might be just a bit too much. Use the timetable provided below if you would be ok with the time needed:

    Best,
