Want to stay in Lucerne 3 or 4 nights and travel from there as day trips everywhere. would like to spend some time in Lucerne, see Interlaken go to the top of the Europe grindelwald. What is your recommendations? How much I would pay besides the swiss train pass to see all that. I am flying in to Zurich. I can catch a train from the Zurich airport to Lucerne is that ok?

What other things I can squeeze in while in Lucerne.

How far is the St Moritz from Lucerne. Will swiss rail pass cover the train fair.

Want to go to Zurich for 2-3 nights and Geneva for a day trip is that possible? 7Am flight on 26th from Zurich what time the trains start in the morning. should I book the hotel for one night near airport?

How many days passes I should get for the train which can save me maximum $ in travel

Please explain in detail what and where to get the trains to go see places.

I’m sure the Moderators and more experienced members will respond with more detailed information, but you can get answers to some of your questions by looking under the How to Travel / Train heading at the top of this page, and checking some of the specific cities under the Where to Go heading.

There is a link to the SBB timetable (for trains, buses, boats, etc.) that also provides prices for specific trips between two places, and other links that give advice on how to choose the best travel pass and to a spreadsheet that helps you calculate the cost for various types of rail passes. You will need to have a fairly specific itinerary and do some research before you can determine which pass or combination of passes/tickets is the most cost effective.

For example, a Swiss Travel Pass covers almost all forms of transportation in Switzerland, and provides discounts on the mountaintop trips, like the Top of Europe/Jungfraujoch, that are not fully covered.

You can easily catch a train from the Zurich airport to Luzern, there is a train station in the main airport terminal. We stayed in Zurich for a day when we flew in, and for our last day before flying out. We stayed in Luzern the rest of the time and took day trips. St. Moritz is 4 to 4.5 hours by train from Luzern, Geneva is 3 hours.

Trains from the main Zurich train station to the airport start about 4:30 am and take 12 minutes to get there; you would want to be on the first one for a 7 am flight. I don’t know if an airport area hotel would be better.

From Interlaken you can have a day trip to Geneva if you start early. Travel by the Golden Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass) from Interlaken to Montreux via Zweisimmen than to Geneva via Lausanne. It is a long ride, it takes a bit more than 4 hours but the scenery will be wonderful. From Geneva you can travel back in a faster way (via Bern), it takes around 3 hours.

You can get to Geneva from Zurich too, it takes less than 3 hours but then you miss all of the beauty of the Golden Pass and the best parts of the Lake Geneva (http://www.myswissalps.com/lakegeneva).
