    Hello everyone.

We would be travelling to Switzerland (2 adults) on 25th June until 01st July 2017 and we’re planning to split it to visit Basel, Zurich and Lucerne into 2 days each. Our flight from London will arrive in Basel airport on the 25th around 10am. I also read over the internet that the train journey for each city is roughly about two hours or less, is that correct? Our itinerary is as follows:

    25th until 27th – Basel

    27th until 29th – Lucerne

    29th until 01st – Zurich

We need to go back to Basel airport to catch our flight back to London on the 01st July at 04:00pm. What do you think of our travel plan? I would appreciate if you guys have a better suggestion in mind or any recommendation please? Many thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    Bernard

Hi Bernard and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The travel time will depend a little on the exact train you catch (connections etc). You can find all train schedules for Switzerland here.

We can’t recommend any activities for you until we know what you want to see and do while you are in Switzerland – why are you visiting?

Thanks for your prompt response Lucas – appreciate it!

We would like to explore the beautiful cities of Basel and Zurich with its old town, museums, cathedrals etc. and also to do a little bit of hiking to see the mountains and Swiss Alps in Lucerne if that is possible during June?

Basically we will only be in Switzerland for a week (7 days) so is it alright if we split it into 2 days each to visit those three cities? I honestly believe that 7 days is way too much for a small city like Basel that’s why we decided to go to another city of Switzerland to explore. Maybe 3 days in Basel then the remaining 3 days in either Zurich or Lucerne – which is a better option between these two then? Looking forward for you guys to help us to decide please.

    Thanks again.

I think 2 days in each city will work well for you.
If you want to spend more time with museums and cathedrals etc. add a 3rd night in Zurich (it’s just a bigger city than Basel). If you want to explore the mountains (great time in late June) then add a 3rd night in Luzern.

Click the links above for each town to get an idea of what there is to do in and around each town -this should help you decide how long you need in each town. If you have more questions don’t hesitate to ask!

    Cheers,
    Lucas
