Thank you for all the detailed wonderful posts on this forum. I have recently planned a one week trip to Switzerland for June 2018 (first time in Europe from US) with my mother (50s) and sister (20s) and would appreciate any suggestions! Our goal is to see as many mountains/lakes/nature as possible.

Day 1: Arrive at Geneva airport at around 5:30 PM

We plan to bus to our airBNB (about 15 min bus ride from the airport), drop our luggage off, and walk around for a couple of hours near the lake. Any ideas of places to see near the main train station?

Day 2: Golden Pass train journey (Geneva –> Montreux –> Zweisimmen –> Interlaken –> Wengen)

We plan to wake up early at 6:00 AM and take the Golden Pass train Journey from Geneva –> Montreux –> Zweisimmen –> Interlaken –> Wengen. We plan to perhaps walk around the lake in Montreux for a couple of hours and maybe spend another hour in Zweisimmen exploring around the way. Are there other towns we should stop at instead? We have an airBNB booked in Wengen for this night.

    Day 3: Explore Wengen/Trümmelbach Falls

We’re hoping to do easy hikes in and around Wengen and explore Trümmelbach falls on this day. Again, spending the night in Wengen.

    Day 4: Explore Wengen/Lauterbrunnen valley

Easy day planned with casual exploring the surrounding area. Any particular suggestions for easy hikes/things to do? Spending the night in Wengen.

    Day 5: Schilthorn/Murren/Gimmelwald

Wake up early and make our way to Schilthorn. Then, come to Murren, check into our airBNB and hike to and back from Gimmelwald. Spending the night in Murren.

Day 6: Murren –> Lucerne, Mount Rigi

We plan to leave Murren early in the morning to make it to Lucerne. Dropping off our stuff at airBNB and taking the boat ride on lake Lucerne and going to mount Rigi. Spending the evening perhaps taking a longer boat ride on lake Lucerne on the way back from Rigi. Sleeping in Lucerne.

    Day 7: Lucerne –> Zurich –> Home

Waking up in Lucerne and leaving for Zurich right after breakfast. 1:00 PM flight back to the US.

    Does this sound do-able?

Any particular suggestions? All accommodations have been booked.

We are probably going to eat most meals from CO-OP (I understand they have a lot of breads, cheeses, snacks and some ready-to-eat meals?). Also, any suggestions for places in these cities where we can go for decent fondue/raclette once or twice without breaking the bank?

For travel we plan to use the Swiss Flex pass for four days.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi ViolinCity12, and welcome to MySwissAlps,

Day 1: Head for the old city and the lake. Read as well 'What to do in Geneva'.

Day 2: Montreux is a good choice. I don’t know Zweisimmen. I do know Gstaad which is quite nice, but not a must see.

Day 3: Have a look at our list of recommended activities near Wengen here. There are lists of mountains as we ll as detailed notes on hikes available as well.

    Day 4: Look at Kim’s suggestions: http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/2-days-in-wengen.

Day 5: Schilthorn and Mürren are nice places to visit.

Day 6: We have information here about a scenic trip up to Rigi and things to do in Lucerne.

This all sounds do-able. If you click on the links provided you get much more information and suggestions.

    Hi ViolinCity

You might find it convenient to explore Trümmelbach falls on day 4 instead of day 3 as it is in Lauderbrunnen valley. Also since you are staying in Wengen you can take the cable car from Wengen to Männlichen then take the very scenic, paved, and fairly flat walk to Kleine Scheidegg. It takes about 1:45 hrs with nice restaurants at KS for lunch then you can return to Wengen by train. Also convenient from Wengen is the cog train to Schynige Platte. Again good views and nice outdoor restaurants. Last you might look in taking the cable car from Grindelwald to First. There is a short, flat , paced walk to Bachalpsee from First you might like.
