Hi all,

I would like to get some feedback on my proposed itinerary below. I have included the cities that I would be coming from and going after for completeness, just in case it is of relevance.

Sep 22nd (Sun): Paris, France

23rd (Mon): Morning depart for Lucerne from Paris via Basel, Swiss (reach around 12-1pm), lion monument, chapel bridge

24th (Tue): Lucerne, Swiss (golden round trip)

25th (Wed): Interlaken, Swiss (Grindelwald First Cliffwalk)

26th (Thu): Zermatt, Swiss (Town)

27th (Fri): Zermatt, Swiss (Klein Matterhorn)

28th (Sat): onward to Italy (Milan)

Just a gentle reminder that the country is called Switzerland and not Swiss, and you don’t need to type ‘Swiss’ after every town. On this site it is understood that we are talking about locations in Switzerland.

Nothing wrong with that itinerary. Always a good idea to have two days in Zermatt in case the cloud on the Matterhorn doesn’t play ball.

And just to add that you can easily visit Gornergrat too during a 2 day stay. That is partly because the village itself isn’t very big and won’t take all day to see.

Apologies, copied the plan from my mobile and indicated Swiss as a short form. Missed out on correcting that.

i was thinking whether too much time would be spend changing cities. Another plan is to go directly to Interlaken and do Lucerne day trip from there. One less city/hotel to change.

Your itinerary makes sense to me. I do like the idea of skipping one base town and staying in either Lucerne (http://www.myswissalps.com/lu cerne) or Interlaken (http://www.myswissalps.com/in terlaken). You can make day trips from either town to the other indeed. Ending up in Zermatt (http://www.myswissalps.com/ze rmatt) is a good choice, if you’re heading for Italy next.

Did you look into train passes and tickets? You might want to consider one of the options below:
