This is our 1st time to Europe and we (2 couples) will be traveling to Zurich by flight from London early Nov and planning to rent a car for our 5 days stay in Lucerne (2 nights) and Interlaken (2 nights). As we are not familiar with the road condition hence not sure whether we should just take public transport instead of driving.
We also plan to visit Jungfraujoch when we are in Interlaken, how far from Stella Swiss Quality Hotel to Jungfraujoch? How much is the train fare?
We have bought flight from Basel to Paris. How far from Interlaken travel to Basel and along the way to Basel any other attractions you would recommend?

    Hi lisalyl78, welcome to MySwissAlps,

Switzerland’s road network is of good quality. Whether driving would be easy for you depends on when you’re traveling (in Winter there can be snow/slippery roads) and what you’re used to at home. Parking can be difficult and expensive in larger towns like Interlaken and Lucerne, unless you have free parking included with the hotels. Public transport is perfect and easy to use. A visit to the Jungfraujoch by car would mean that you park in Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald and continue by train. It makes sense to just take the train directly from Interlaken. You can walk from your hotel to either the Interlaken West or Ost rail station. There are direct trains from Interlaken to Basel (about 2 hours). A 20 minute bus ride takes you to the airport. Details are in the timetable. Bern is on the way to Basel, so you can spend a couple of hours there.

Fares to the Jungfraujoch are here. You’d best look into the rail passes to get a discount on that excursion and the other ones you may have planned. Hotels near the rail stations can be found here.

    Have fun!
