Hi Everyone,

i have found the forum really useful for planning my itinerary. The problem I have faced is my travel dates are from the 23rd of October to the 28th of October. It would be really helpful if according to your experience you can go through my itinerary and also help me with a few questions in between.

23rd October – Sunny (13 degrees)

1. Train from Frankfurt HBF to Zurich Main. Departure 06:48 , Arrival 11:00. One change (transfer time 20 minutes)

2. Buy Zurich after 9 AM day pass

3. Store luggage in lockers or checkin into airbnb if checkin time matches

4. Buy SALT sim from local shops

5. Take a break/have lunch or Travel from Zurich HBF to Rhine Falls(Zurich HB to Schloss Laufen am Rhine falls approximately 1hour 10 mins)

6. Take 14:16 train from Zurich HB to Schloss Laufen am Rhine falls. Reach at 15:06.

7. Walk downstairs to the river and take the blue line

8. Spend time until 17:00

9. Get back to Zurich by 17:30 train , Arrival 18:23

10. Buy any essentials, pick up luggage

11. Buy 4 day swiss travel pass starting from 24th October.

12. Check in into hotel/bnb

13. Day end (Can any sightseeing be done?)

24th October – Cloudy (15 degrees)

1. Checkout and Travel to Arth Goldau BHof.Depart approx 09:00 from Zurich, reach by approx 10:00.

2. Store luggage in lockers

3. Arth-Goldau to Rigi Kulm by Cogwheel

4. Rigi Kulm to Rigi Kaltbad First by Cogwheel

5. Rigi Kaltbad First to Weggis by Cable car

6. Weggis to Rigi Kaltbad First by Cable car

7. Rigi Kaltbad First to Vitznau by Cogwheel

8. Vitznau to Luzern by boat

9. Roam around Lucerne

10. Buy any essentials, pick up luggage

11. Depart to Interlaken OST. Planning for BNB at Grindelwald. (please suggest alternatives if any)

12. Day end

25th October – Sunny (16 degrees)

1. Jungfrau

2. Any of harderklum/lake thun/roam around/please suggest what else can be done

3. Buy essentials

4. Day end

26th October – Sunny (15 degrees)

1. Schilthorn/Trummelbach falls

2. Any of harderklum/lake thun/roam around/please suggest what else can be done

3. Buy essentials

4. Day end

27th October – Sunny (13 degrees)

1. Checkout and depart to Lucerne (How do I use the Golden Pass line route?)

2. Store luggage in lockers at Lucerne

3. Go to Mount Titlis

4. Roam around Lucerne

5. Collect luggage and travel to Zurich

6. Buy essentials and checkin into hotel/bnb

7. Buy zurich 9pm pass for next day

8. Day end

28th October – Cloudy (10 degrees)

1. Checkout and store luggage at station

2. General Zurich sightseeing

3. Depart to Frankfurt by 19:00 train, reach by 23:13

4. Trip over

Schilthorn (http://www.myswissalps.com/sc hilthorn) and Jungfraujoch (http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfraujoch) will take a 1/2 day so I’d plan on visiting/exploring the towns of the area.

Harder Kulm is a nice easy option from Interlaken. As is visiting Murren (http://www.myswissalps.com/mu rren) from Schilthorn

Hi Luke,

Thank you for your reply.Just to add some context I will be travelling with my parents(65+)

1.I will try to fit in the Interlaken to Zweisimmen route(just the train ride after a mountain excursion) on either the 25th of 26th of October.

2. Can you guide me on whether Grindelwald would be a good village to stay specially in this shoulder season. I have read a lot and am a bit confused now.

Hi Anju

I think Grindelwald is fine in late October, if you prefer to stay in a smaller town and close to nature. If you prefer a city like environment with more facilities, then Interlaken is better. You can compare both towns here:
