    The most beautiful and scenic vacation in the Swiss Alps and lots of help I got from mySwissAlps website motivated me to share the amazing experience I have on my short vacation to the beautiful place.

    My Travel itinerary was of 4 days from Reaching Zurich to fly out from Geneva. And we had taken the 4-day Swiss travel pass. The Swiss Saver Pass can be purchased online and at larger Swiss railway stations.

    So here it starts 🙂

    After reaching Zurich, we took the train to Luzern. The train station is just outside the Airport on one level down from where we travel to Luzern, It was more than 1 hour Journey.

    After reaching the Luzern we went to the information centre in the station. The staff is very courteous and helpful. Every station you will get the information centre from where you can get all the info about your destinations.

    After purchasing the round trip ticket from the information centre we went to Mt. Pilatus from there. As we were having luggage, we kept them in the locker box available on the platform. You can get the big boxes in platform 14 else you have many small boxes to fit your cabin baggage.

    Day 1 Journey To Mt Pilatus

    We were very keen on taking the boat ride, after purchasing a ticket from the information centre, we went to the boat station which is right outside the station from where you will get the Boat to Alpnachstad station. The boat journey was awesome and very scenic & was about 1 Hr. From the Alpnachstad train station, we boarded the World steepest cogwheel train to top of Mountain which is in 7000 feet. The journey took almost 40 min and was thrilling.

    Once you reach the top of Mountain, You can spend the time to enjoy the view. There are two food restaurants and one souvenir shop to buy some souvenir. You can also go to the further top by stairs to see the whole lake and cities.

    While coming back, we took the cable car down to Fräkmüntegg and then Gondola to Kriens. From there you will get the Bus to Luzern Station.

    As we were based in Interlaken, we took the train from Luzern to Interlaken which takes ~2hrs but is very scenic.

    If you are travelling very light then would suggest spending some beautiful time in Lake-town of Lungern and Brienz. The scenic view of the mountain on the background is very beautiful.

    How to travel up to the Pilatus

    The route

    Section 1: by train or boat from the rail station in Lucerne to Alpnachstad;

    Section 2: by cogwheel train to the peak of Mount Pilatus;

    Section 3: by cable car down to Fräkmüntegg;

    Section 4: by gondola down to Kriens;

    Section 5: by bus back to the rail station of Lucerne.

    Day 2 to Top of Europe Jungfraujoch

    We took an early train to Lauterbrunnen from Interlaken which takes around 20 min. From Lauterbrunnen information station we had bought the round trip tickets to Jungfraujoch. So the train travels from Wengen till Kleine Scheidegg. Sit on the right Side of the train to have a better view during the ascent. The train stops for 5 min at Eisner station just before reaching the Top, so the travellers can take some pictures.

    Once at the top, you have all the info, just follow the Tour Sign to different parts of Jungfraujoch. It has an Ice cave, some sports activities. take pictures with Swiss flag in Plateau, go to the top of the Sphinx. Everything is beautiful.

    Return can be done the same way, but we choose Grindelwald, where we had a small stop to roam around and purchasing some souvenir. From Grindelwald, we took the train back to Interlaken Ost station and spent the rest of the day there. This mountain town is very beautiful. You can do lots of shopping and eat good food. The Kids have lots of space to play around.

    From here if you have time you can go to Harder Kulm to have a scenic view of the whole town from the top of the mountain and can see the sunset.

    Day 3 to Mt Titlis

    It was a long journey from Interlaken to Mt Titlis, you have to plan it well to connect to the connecting train. The one side of Journey itself takes around 4 hrs.

    We started from Interlaken to Luzern (~2 hrs) then Luzern to Engelberg (~1 hr), then from their cable car to top of Mt Titlis in next 40 min. Here you will be changing the cable car one time. The first travel is on small travel car and you enter the bing revolving gondola.

    In Titlis, you can do the lot of snow activities like Snow flyer, cliff walking etc.

    Don’t forget to take the picture in swiss traditional dress :). Also, the picture can be taken from Cliff walk and Swiss flyer.

    From Titlis, descend is in the same route you did the ascend. Once you reach the Luzern, one can explore this city too, there is a proper map which is available and it can be covered in 2 to 3 hours.

    Day 4 Visit to Trummelbach Fall and Mt Schilthorn

    The route Courtsey MySwissAlps (we followed the same)

    All cable cars to the Schilthor n depart from the town of Mürren. Mürren can be reached via Interlaken – Lauterbrunnen – Grütschalp, or via Interlaken – Lauterbrunnen – Stechelberg. We recommend to go up via Stechelberg and go down via Grütschalp. That way you see more of the area, and going up from Stechelberg is quite spectacular as you will ascend an impressive 2108m in just half an hour. From Interlaken, it takes about 90 minutes to reach the Schilthorn, depending on the route.

    Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen can be reached by train and by car. Stechelberg can be reached by bus and car. The rest of the area is only accessible by train or cable car. Once in Lauterbrunnen, you can take the bus to Trummelbach fall which is thrilling to see.

    Few points:-

    1. The kids below 4 are not allowed.

    2. If possible wear a light jacket because it is quite a cold due to water.

    The Trummelbach ticket cost you 12 CHF. There is a lift which takes you to the half point and from their, you can go above to see 5 view point and take a stair to see all the 10 view points.

    Each and every moment spent there was just wow.

    Few suggestions:-

    1. If possible, it is better to have two base station. one when you explore the Jungfraujochregion , you can base in interlaken (more for connectivity) or Wengen and can see many beautiful town like , Wengen/Grindelwald, Jungfrouch, Trummelbach Falls, Murren, Schilthorn, Gastad etc.

    And another base station in Luzern, from where you can travel easily to Mt Pilatus, Mt. Titlis, visit the town of Bern, Zurich.

    2. You can take the child stroller anywhere, every mountain top has locker which you can use to keep your stuff.

    3. Wear the light jackets to Trummelbach fall.

    4. You don’t need mobile data here. You can download all the offline train timetable and moreover, the information centre in the station are also very useful, so use them 🙂

    Enjoy your vaccation.

    A Big thanks to MySwissAlps team.
