I would like to know how to get to the The Hammetschwand Lift from Lucerne by train/boat/bus. Can this trip be done in 4-5 hours from Lucerne?

    Yes,

You should be able to do the whole trip in under 5 hours. It would be about an hour and a half one-way from Luzern, including a bit of a walk to the elevator (30 or 40 minutes).

You can use the Swiss railways timetable here to plan your trip.

You can read about how to get there on an earlier post here.

A couple of weeks ago the funicular had not yet reopened.

Check with the tourist info office by track #1 in the Luzern Main station for up to the minute status.
