Hello everyone. For trip in August/September (4th trip to Switzerland) will be as follows:

Fly from USA to Zurich, train to Stresa, 3 nights there

train to Zermatt, 3 nights there

train to Wengen, 4 nights there

does the sequence and amount of nights seems reasonable? This will be 1st visit to Stresa and Zermatt, 4th to Wengen

Can I buy tickets to Stresa via SBB app with half fare card discount?

Does the option to get saver pass ticket for the trip from Zurich airport to Stresa is a better option?

I looked up SBB app for end of August ticket and got the message No Purchase Available – is this because it’s too far in advance? Should I get the ticket now?

Anything else anyone can suggest?

Hi maniimjach,

I don’t think it’s possible to purchase international rail tickets from the SBB mobile app. You can buy tickets from Zurich to Stresa online from a list of resellers here: http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/italy

I wll try to get them online, like your site recommends. If I have the half fare card, can I get ticket to Stresa at SBB online (not app) or need other sites? will my ticket be to Stresa, or to the Swiss border? I dont have the experience, hense asking the questions.

Yes, it might be possible to buy the ticket from Zurich to Stresa from the SBB website. Do note however that the Swiss Half Fare Card is only valid for the Swiss part of your journey.
