    Hello friends

We would like to take 1 day trip from Zurich to Stoos / Fronalpstock. We would like to buy Schwyz/Zug–ZVV single ticket.

However, we are confused with the zoning system of this ticket. So from the Zurich HB to Schwyz, do they count as 2 zones or all the zones that train will pass ?

    Referring to this site http://www.zpass.ch/zpass/en/travelcards-and-tickets/tickets/schwyz-zug-zvv/single-ticket.html

We have 1/2 fare travel card, we would have to pay 3.2 CHF or 16.2 CHF (for 2nd class with 1/2 fare card)

And for bus from Schwyz to Stoos, can the 1/2 travel card discount as well ?

Thank you so much for your advise

    have a great day

    Hello cece,

The train will cross several zones of the ZVV network, so a 2-zone ticket won’t be enough. You’ll need an 11-zone ticket, which will cost CHF 13,50 (this is including the 50% Swiss Half Fare Card discount). This will be valid for 3 hours. If you need more than that to complete your journey back to Zurich, costs will be higher.

You can find all fares in the Swiss timetable. That may be easier than studying the ZVV zone system. Please refer to “How to find standard ticket prices, option 2: advanced timetable website” at https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable for a step-by-step explanation. Since you have a Swiss Half Fare Card (https://www.myswissalps.com/swisshalffarecard), the default 50% discounted prices are what you need (so you don’t have to change “Half Fare Travelcard” into “full price” when looking for ticket prices).

    Does this answer your question?

No need to calculate zones. Simply enter Zürich HB to Fronalpstock via Schwyz Stoosbahn (Talstation). The ticketing system will do the rest. It is a point-to-point ticket, not a zone ticket. Or go to the SBB travel office and ask for the respective ticket.
