    Hi,

Can someone please advise how to buy tickets for bus travel? Can I buy ticket using credit/debit card while boarding the bus? Is cash acceptable (CHF) in bus? or do I need to buy ticket in advance from ticket machine?

If my journey includes train+bus, do I need to buy seperate tickets for train and bus journey?

Are there any tickets which are valid for 3-4 hrs and can include unlimited travel in bus+train within 10-15 miles.

I will be reaching Basel in evening but would like to travel till Basel city centre from my apartment. Plan is to cover 2-3 regions (Basel airport, Erlenstrasse, city centre) within 3-4 hrs.

    Thanks

    Ashish

Nearly all European cities have integrated transport networks with one or more different modes with all modes covered on the same (usually zonal) unified fare tariff – in Basel there are Trams, trolley buses and buses.

Most cities have a variety of ‘rover’ tickets often valid for 24 hours, and also shorter options such as tickets with allow journeys of up to 60 mins

Day tickets are usually the most convenient tickets for tourists:

    Hello Ashish,

If you buy the tickets on board of the bus, which you often but not always can, you will have to pay in cash, so CHF.

At ticketing machines nowadays credit cards, debit cards and cash are accepted widely.

In Basel as with the other main Swiss cities you don’t buy tickets on the bus, but from the ticket machine at the bus or tram stop

In this case Ashish will need to use the ticket machine at the Bus 50 bus stop outside the Basel Airport terminal
