    Hello!

We made it! In Zurich for 3 weeks and trying to figure out what to do…but as always, the hard work is how to get there!! So confusing! We have the Swiss half price pass and when just checking on the “Stoos Peak experience” tickets (we want to ride the funicular to Stoos and then take the lift to Fronalpstock for a hike) and it comes up with 46 Chf and when we use our pass it is 36. This isn’t half price, and we have found inconsistencies with “half price” on trains as well. Are we doing something wrong? We plan to do a lot of train, bus, ferry travel and it’s confusing when the pricing isn’t actually half price. Thank you!!

    Hi Moka,

The Swiss Half Fare Card is valid on the Stoosbahn funicular but not on the chairlifts to Fronalpstock. So you get 50% discounts on the return funicular ride. The chairlifts are run by private operators, some do recognise the half fare cards and offer some discounts but not all. You can check out the Swiss Half Fare Card validity map here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisshalffarecard/validity

    Safe travel and regards,

    Anna

    Hello Moka!

The funicular and cable car to Stoos are 50% discounted with the Swiss Half Fare Card, but cable cars from Stoos such as the one to Fronalpstock are not included. You can check this by downloading the validity map mentioned by Anna. The “Stoos Peak Experience Ticket” is a combined ticket that includes both the ride to Stoos (50% off with the Swiss Half Fare Card) as well as chairlift rides from Stoos (full fare). That explains why it’s reduced with your Swiss Half Fare Card, but not exactly by 50%.

All rides as indicated at the validity map should offer 50% discounted prices.

The advanced SBB timetable shows 50% reduced tickets by default. But sometimes other, lower rates can be displayed. These are usually for special tickets with restrictions such as Supersaver tickets. You’ll find this explained at the timetable page under “How to find ticket prices”: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable.

If there are specific inconsistencies you can’t explain using the Swiss Half Fare Card validity map, please let us know which ones and we’ll be happy to help :-).

Have a great stay in Zurich!

Oh how I wish I had you on speed dial, Anna. For every day we want to plan something it takes us 2 days of research. Nothing seems at all clear cut! Anyway…..we are on Lake Zurich at Ruschlikon and would like to be able to do a hop on/hop off at different little towns in the lake. Is there a ticket for this? We have spent many hours research and can’t figure it out. We just want to enjoy the lake on the ferries for the day. Is there any way to do this? And please be specific if you can. Again, we have the half fare pass. Thank you!! Susie
