Hi, my family is traveling to Switzerland this December and would like to explore the Glacier Express with the Swiss Travel Pass. We do not want to tie down complete route of 8 hours, what will be the travelling from Zermatt to Andermatt by Glacier Express? If we go down at Andermatt, what train should we take to return to Zermatt after that? Or is it better option to stop at Chur. What will be the traveling time if we stop at Chur? Thank you

Hi Chutek and welcome to MySwissAlps!

You can find the different route options if you don’t have time for the full Glacier Express route here: http://www.myswissalps.com/gl acierexpress

To find travel times to various stops on the route you can use the Swiss railways timetable here: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable – the panoramic train is denoted as PE on the timetable.

Do note, when traveling on the Glacier Express panoramic train you must make seat reservations (as well as have a valid train ticket or rail pass). http://www.myswissalps.com/gl acierexpress/packages

    Hello Chuteck,

I’d recommend to travel as far as Disentis in order to see more varied scenery, including the Oberalp Pass.

To give yourself the most flexibility, don’t get hung up on definitely using the Glacier Express. You can travel the local trains on the same route for maximum ‘walk on’ flexibility.

Hi 1960man, thank you for the suggestion. I think is great to travel by local train to look around this beautiful country. Thanks again
