Hi Bukit, and welcome to MySwissAlps!
The Glacier Express is expected to start running again on 10 December 2018, after a break between 15 October and 9 December 2018.
Timetables for the 2018-19 timetable year, which begins on 9 December 2018, will be released around mid-October 2018.

When the Glacier Express is not running, you can follow the same route on regional trains.

Hi Alpenrose
Thanks for the reply.
I plan to leave Zermatt for Chur on 12 Dec on Glacier Express. Will there be any chance that the Glacier Express will begin later than 10 Dec under normal circumstances?
Any delay will likely to affect my accommodation reservation.
What is the difference between the regional train and the glacier express?

Hi Bukit,
Yes it is possible it won’t run on Dec.12 but it most likely will be.
You can read about the Glacier Express train here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/glacierexpress
Essentially, regional trains don’t have panoramic windows and fewer food options – and you’ll need to change trains along the way.

Plus with the regional trains you save money because seat reservations not required. 🤓

There are no planned changes to the lines covered by the Glacier Express in the 2019 timetable, so the Glacier Express will start running on the first day of the 2019 timetable, which is 9 December 2018
