    Escalators to the glacier!

Competition for guests will, in the end, benefit the tourists – spoiled for choice!

I only wonder how long the glaciers will stay around. In my lifetime I have seen the Aletsch one disappear from view from down in the Rhône valley.

Interesting indeed Peterli. Economical issues as well as climate change make it hard for lesser known peaks and lower resorts. I think we have to be realistic about the glaciers: the Swiss Alps will remain beautiful, but most of the glaciers will disappear rather quickly. The one I keep thinking about is the Morteratsch glacier, since I’ve visited it various times over the years and signs indicate how far it reached once. Even if the Paris Agreement is realized fully, it is still damage control this century. Traveling plays a role here of course. It’s important to travel as green as possible. It won’t be less fun. http://www.myswissalps.com/ab outswitzerland/nature/ environment/help.
