Hi Wzemanay and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Are you looking for a guided tour or an independent tour you do on your own?

We list a few web pages here to help you with your tour plans.

If you want to put this together on your own we can help you with that here.
First, when are you coming to Switzerland and how many days are you traveling here for?

From Geneva, incorporating both the Golden Pass route and the Glacier Express route (to end in Zurich) will be quite time-consuming for you.

The Golden Pass route would start in Montreux and head north to Zweisimmen – Interlaken and ending in Lucerne. The Glacier Express starts in Zermatt and ends in Chur (a different part of the country so you would have to do some back tracking).

An easier option would be to go from Lucerne to Andermatt and pick up the Glacier Express there to head on the Chur (and miss about 1/4 of this trip between Zermatt and Andermatt.

Use Google Maps to see the towns and were they are located compared to each other & use the Swiss railways timetable to plan your trips. On the timetable, the Glacier Express is denoted as GEX & the panoramic trains on the Golden Pass route (just between Montreux & Zweisimmen are MOB Panoramic or Belle Epoque).

    Read about both routes here:

Wow! That was quick. We plan to leave Geneva on the 28th March.

ideally I’d like a guided tour and perhaps a better question would be which route which you suggest is best at that time and easiest with kids and luggage?

    thanks

    Hi Wzemanay,

We have a listed of 4 and 6 day guided tours that could fit what you want listed here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/plantrip/escorte dtours

If I was doing this on my own & had the time AND really wanted to be on the Glacier Express and Golden Pass (AND I had to arrive in Geneva and depart from Zurich) I would travel:

    1. Geneva to Montreux
    2. Montreux to Luzern (Golden Pass)
    3. Luzern to Chur (via Uznach and Sargans)
    4. Chur to Zermatt (Glacier Express)
    5. Zermatt to Zurich

Lots of train travel and zig zagging across the country. Not sure how much time you have and if you have towns you want to stop at for a few days along the way (I assume so!).
