Just wondering as I have a free day in Zermatt was wondering what place that is worthy of visiting for the day. I am travelling with a Eurail Pass. Thinking Thun or Interlaken? Any suggestions please would be great.

Hi Kmabey,

It really depends on your interests, how far you are willing to travel and if you are only considering traveling on routes that are completely covered by the Eurail Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/eu railglobalpass/validit y).

Zermatt to Interlaken is a little over 2 hours, one-way. For closer trips, perhaps Brig or Kandersteg or Domodossola are interesting to you?

Thanks will check the later places you mentioned. We enjoy walking but will have a fit 82 year old with us.

I’d consider an easy trip to Brig or perhaps Blausee (lake). It is a nice and easy trip from Zermatt- use the timetable to plan the trips: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable (the train to Kandersteg is quite scenic as well)
